Both Louis Plung Co-Managing Partners made the Forbes 2026 America's Best-in-State CPAs List!

On April 15, Forbes released their 2026 America’s Best-in-State CPAs list and we’re proud to say that both of our Co-Managing Partners made the list! Congratulations to Lou Plung, who was also honored in 2025, and Lindsay Andrews. One Thousand exceptional CPAs from around the country were recognized who were identified through interviews with industry insiders, outside nominations, editorial research, and an independent advisory board of CPAs.  Candidates were then rated in 10 weighted categories including professional honors, influence on the profession, achievements, performance, thought leadership, and community service.

Congratulations are also in order for Steven Fisher, MBA, LPC tax staff. He’s been selected as a Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Young Leader. This award recognizes members under the age of 40 who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the accounting profession through PICPA involvement or community service. The 2026 class of Young Leaders will be celebrated at the PICPA’s 129th Annual Meeting & Celebration in Bedford, PA on May 4-5.

Tax Season Kickoff Celebration

The Louis Plung & Company tax team celebrated the start of tax season on February 3^rd with a lively event at Shorty’s on the North Shore. The celebration marked the conclusion of a three-day tax-season kickoff that included training on the latest tax laws and regulations. Each team member received a tax season care package, featuring a Yeti Rambler Colster, Miday power bank, Happypop socks, notepad, pen, Chap Ice, and empowermints.

Allegheny Tax Society Annual Joint Tax Meeting

LPC tax professionals attended a U.S. tax policy update at the Allegheny Tax Society’s Annual Joint Tax Meeting. The event featured speaker Jessica L. Jeane from Washington, D.C. and was hosted in partnership with the Tax Executives Institute, Pittsburgh Tax Club, and the Allegheny County Bar Association Tax Section. LPC was represented by Charles Jerich, Tao He, CPA, Alijah Martin, CPA, Matthew Craw, Steven Fisher, MBA, and Enkhlen Bayar.

Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership Annual Meeting

Louis Plung & Company representatives attended the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s Annual Meeting, which highlighted upcoming city initiatives surrounding the NFL Draft, new retail experiences, Arts Landing, and activity in Market Square. The event drew over 400 attendees—its largest crowd to date—and featured updates from city and county leaders. LPC CMO Beth Bershok and Marketing & Client Experience Manager Alyssa Falarski represented the firm.

Disrupt HR Pittsburgh

DisruptHR Pittsburgh delivered an engaging and energetic evening at Rivers Casino & The Landing Hotel on April 1^st. Fourteen speakers challenged the audience to rethink talent, culture, and technology, sparking meaningful conversation throughout the event.

A special shoutout went to LPC’s HR Director, Lanna Valenti, for her impactful presentation on The Sprinkle Method, a people-centered approach to change that challenged traditional HR practices.

Draft Before the Draft Party

Louis Plung & Company hosted its “Draft Before the Draft” party at the Greer Cabaret Theater the week of April 20^th to kick off draft week. LPC partnered with Grist House Craft Brewery to create a private-label lager and red IPA, and guests enjoyed taking four-packs home.

The food embraced a Pittsburgh tailgate theme, featuring a Potato Patch fry bar, pierogi station, BBQ chicken, and a classic cookie table. Cornhole, a football toss, and other games rounded out the night, making it a memorable way to kick off an exciting week for the city. 

Mardi Gras Celebration

LPC celebrated Mardi Gras / Fat Tuesday on February 17^th with a combined birthday and anniversary lunch, complete with King Cake. Partner Thomas L. Bakaitus, Jr. and intern Ethan Oniboni found the babies, bringing good fortune for the year ahead. A big thank-you went to the Social Committee for planning such a fun and festive event.

Busy Season Sundae Bar

The LPC Sundae Bar provided a sweet boost during the final weeks of busy season. (March 16^th) With all the classic flavors and toppings, it was the perfect midday pick-me-up. Thank you to the Social Committee for organizing this morale-boosting treat.

Busy Season Wrap-Up Celebration 

To celebrate the end of busy season, the LPC team gathered at the Renaissance Hotel downtown on April 16th for an evening of casino games, raffle prizes, great food and drinks, and even better company. The event was a wonderful way to recognize the team’s hard work and accomplishments.
