Louis Plung & Company Named 'Best of the Best' Firm
In August, Louis Plung & Company was honored to be named an Inside Public Accounting (IPA) Best of the Best firm for 2024!
Only 60 firms in the country made the list ranked on more than 35 metrics. That honor came on the heels of being recognized as an IPA Top 400 Firm and an IPA Fastest Growing Firm.
Louis Plung & Company Receives 2024 Pittsburgh Business Times Fast 50 Award
For the first time Louis Plung & Company made the Pittsburgh Fast 50!
At the Rivers Casino on August 29, Louis Plung & Company was recognized as the 35th Fastest Growing Company in Pittsburgh. The Fast 50 is presented by the Pittsburgh Business Times and out of 50 companies, Louis Plung & Company was the only accounting firm that made the list!

The Louis Plung team will be expanding and beginning a new journey at 20 Stanwix in Downtown Pittsburgh. As stated by Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Staff Writer Mark Belko, “While others move on, an accounting firm is expanding in the Golden Triangle”. The move was also covered by Patty Tascarella in the Pittsburgh Business Times.
We are thrilled to announce that Louis Plung nominated this year’s Pittsburgh ATHENA recipient, Cathy Battle—Executive Director of Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank!
Held on September 6th, the ATHENA awards were hosted by the Pittsburgh Tech Council at the Pittsburgh Westin Convention Center.
Client Reminder: File Sharing with Egnyte
At Louis Plung & Company, we are always looking for ways to better serve our clients. Earlier this year, we invested in technology to streamline your file sharing and tax processing and switched from ShareFile to Egnyte.
If you haven’t yet made the switch to Egnyte, be advised that ShareFile will no longer be an option after October 31, 2024.

Miranda Safran Receives Empower Pillar Award!
Congratulations to Audit Supervisor Miranda Safran for being named the recipient of the Brave Women Project Empower Pillar Award! The award luncheon will be held on November 15th at the Sheraton Hotel in Station Square. Make sure to mark your calendars!
New Hires: Welcome to the Team!
Shannon Dusak is a recent grad of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a B.S. in Accounting and a B.A. in Music. She has a little over a year of audit experience and is a great addition to the LPC Audit team!
Originally from Morgantown, WV, Alijah Martin comes from an in-house accounting background, where she spent a few years before turning her focus to tax and joining the LPC Tax team!
Caleigh Sisko comes from a legal background and has been doing administrative work for four years. She shifted from law admin to tax admin because she was drawn to the dynamic nature of tax law and wanted to leverage her analytical skills in a more targeted way.

Louis Plung had the honor of nominating Cathy Battle for this year’s ATHENA Award.

During September and the beginning of October, The LPC team visited and hosted a table at six college universities for the fall semester career and internship fairs: Robert Morris University, Washington & Jefferson College, St. Francis University, Duquesne University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and West Virginia University. On July 25th, Tomayko Foundation Board Member and LPC Partner Tom Bakaitus participated in the Summer Art Auction at the Tomayko Gallery in Bloomfield.

On August 5th, FIN Board Member and LPC Senior Manager Rachel Jenista attended the FIN Annual Golf Outing at Longue Vue Club.
Strong Women Strong Girls
On August 6th, SWSG Board Treasurer and LPC Partner Lindsay Andrews and CMO Beth Bershok hosted a table at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Strong Awards.
ACG Future Corporate Leaders
ACG FCL Board Member and LPC Tax Supervisor Jaime Aulicino helped organize the Sept. 18 panel discussion on the tax, economic, and legal implications of this year’s presidential election. LPC Tax Partner Tom Schneider participated in the panel.
Bridgeway Capital
On October 16th, Bridgeway Capital Board Member and LPC Partner Tom Bakaitus attended the Bridgeway Capital Annual Event at the August Wilson African American Culture Center.
Alzheimer's Association of Greater PA
On October 19th, several LPC team members and Alzheimer's Association of Greater PA Co-Chair Beth Bershok attended the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer's. LPC sponsored the After Party too!
Louis Plung Tax Supervisor Jaime Aulicino, Tax Supervisor Karima ElKis, Tax Senior Kaitlyn Farber, and Tax Staff Member Matt Craw break down the proposed tax plans from the presidential candidates.
The Louis Plung & Company Social Committee is a group that plans and coordinates events and activities to boost office morale, inter-departmental teamwork, and achieve a good work-life balance, while supporting and helping charities within the community. The Social Committee was created almost 10 years ago and its members are of all staff levels and specialties from within the firm.
One thing about the LPC team, we love a good putt! On August 15th, the Social Committee hosted a fun (yet competitive) mini-golf event at Puttshack—located in the Strip District Terminal.
Around the World Lunches | August 19 - October 7
To help the team through the early fall busy season, the Social Committee brought food in every Monday from different cultures like the Middle East, Germany, Mexico, Jamaica, and Italy!
Audit Team Building Excursion | August 22
The Audit Department decided to take an interesting approach to their team building exercise — being dual-handedly roasted by comedians Samantha Bentley and Chrissy Costa on The ‘Burgh Bus! What a fun way to cruise around the city.
Tax Team Building Excursion| August 30
The Tax Department took a trip to Pittsburgh’s North Side where they had to get super comfortable in the Museum of Illusions, followed by a few drinks at Southern Tier Brewery and a visit to Pittsburgh’s Annual Rib Fest! Talk about team building!
Supporting Our Community
North Hills Community Outreach | August 8
LPC Tax Director Duke Griffith, Senior Tax Manager Brandon Bupp, Audit Supervisor Miranda Safran, and Audit Supervisor Sam Heiman delivered 70 backpacks and 2,500 individual school supplies to North Hills Community Outreach’s 2024 Back-to School Supplies Drive. The entire LPC team came together to donate, surpassing all previous years!
FlyBy 5K & 2-Mile Fun Run | September 21
LPC Audit Partner Lindsay Andrews and Audit Senior Doug Levis supported the Allegheny County Airport Authority (ACAA) for the 8th FlyBy 5K and 2-mile Fun Run/Walk! Lindsay and her son Zach ran the 2-mile Fun Run and Doug volunteered.
Wear Pink Day | October 18
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Louis Plung & Company participated in Wear Pink Day on Friday, October 18th. All donations that were made by LPC employees were matched by the firm.
