Setting the Pace for 2024:

Louis Plung & Company Expands its Expert Team

Marketing Department

Tia Ellison - Marketing Coordinator

While pursuing her Master’s at Point Park University, Tia joined the Louis Plung team as the Marketing Coordinator for Louis Plung & Company on November 27th.

At Point Park University, she has helped the university promote inclusivity, planned for overall university growth, and participated as a member of the competitive cheer team.

Tax Department

Jason Winter - Tax Director

Jason joined Louis Plung as Tax Director on November 27th. In addition to being an Enrolled Agent (EA), Jason is licensed to practice law in both New York and New Jersey.

His areas of expertise lie in Estate Administration, Fiduciary Income Taxes, Private Foundations and Inheritance Taxes.

Adam Cox - Tax Staff

Adam joined the Louis Plung tax team on November 13th. He is a University of Connecticut graduate with experience working with clients in both the manufacturing and healthcare industries. 

Francisco Pedrozo- Tax Staff

Francisco joined the Louis Plung tax department on January 15th. He is excited to pick up on his hobbies after tax season - golf and sewing.

Audit Department

Sue Morgan and Jovan Kojic - Audit Staff

The audit department welcomed two new staff members on January 8th. Sue is a professional with three decades of experience working as an accountant, along with a few years of experience in auditing.

Jovan is a recent grad of Penn State New Kensington, with a focus in manufacturing.

Janine Rider - Administrative Assistant

The audit team welcomed Janine Rider as their new Administrative Assistant on December 11th.

Janine brings 20+ years of experience working in accounting administration.

LPC Welcomes Spring 2024 Interns

Daniella Ferguson 

Daniella is a student a Robert Morris University and is a member of the club volleyball team.

Judge Murray

Judge is a finance and accounting major at Duquesne University. He is also a part of Duquesne University's Collegiate 100.

Brett Fineman

Brett is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and attends The University of Pittsburgh. Along with his studies, he is also a volunteer firefighter and treasurer for the local fire department.

Brad Shermeto passes the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam

Brad Shermeto earned his CFP on December 6th. Congratulations, Brad!

Sam Heineman passes the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam

Sam became a CPA on December 26th. Congratulations, Sam!

Fond Farewells

Congratulations to Joe Landolina on His Retirement!

After 40+ years of working in Tax, Joe Landolina has announced his retirement. Joe was part of the Love, Scherle, & Bauer team who joined Louis Plung on January 1, 2022.

It’s been a pleasure working with Joe and we wish him well as he continues his craft as a writer for Last Word On Sports and his part-time gig as a writer for Through the Fence Baseball.

LPC Attends the Pittsburgh Smart50 Awards

Congratulations to Teresa Huber, President & CEO of Intervala!

Teresa was honored as a 2023 Smart50 recipient on November 29th. The awards luncheon took place at the Westin Convention Center and the Louis Plung team was honored to have been part of the nomination process.

For the third year in a row, Louis Plung & Company is excited to be part of the Smart Business Dealmakers Conference.  Join us on Thursday, February 29 at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown for a full day that connects hundreds of local dealmakers.

Once again, we're partnering with CIBC for a panel discussion that takes a look at how current market conditions are shaping deals.  Join us from 3:00 -3:40 p.m. for Shaken, Not Stirred: The M&A Cocktail in the Mix of Shifting Economic Forces. 

Panelists include: Jim Nickel (CIBC), Kenn Moritz (Stonewood Capital Management), Brian McGowan (Armada Supply Chain Solutions), Tom Bakaitus (LPC Partner), and moderator Beth Bershok (LPC CMO).

Bridgeway Capital 2023 Annual Event | November 1

Partner and Bridgeway Capital Board Member  Tom Bakaitus represented Bridgeway Capital at their annual event on November 1st, which was held at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center. 

HARP 'Stuff a Doghouse' Fundraiser | December 15

Senior Manager Brandon Bupp serves on the advisory board of the Humane Animal Rescue Pittsburgh (HARP). Brandon, along with a few other members from the Louis Plung team, supported and participated in HARP’s ‘Stuff a Doghouse’ fundraiser on December 15th at the Humane Animal Rescue on the North Side.

Alzheimer's Association KDKA Feature | November 15

CMO Beth Bershok (Co-Chair of the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania) appeared on KDKA’s Talk Pittsburgh to discuss some of the recent Alzheimer’s research that is currently being conducted in Pittsburgh at UPMC.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

The Louis Plung & Company Social Committee is a group that plans and coordinates events and activities to boost office morale, inter-departmental teamwork, and achieve a good work-life balance, while supporting and helping charities within the community.  The Social Committee was created almost 10 years ago and its members are of all staff levels and specialties from within the firm.

Activities

• Ugly Sweater Contest - We don’t think it can get any uglier than this! On December 6th, the Louis Plung team showed up to the office wearing their holiday ugly sweaters for our annual Ugly Sweater Contest. Although there was tons of ugliness to go around, there could only be one winner—and that winner was Scott Blatchford! 

• Pie-in-the-Face Day - Louis Plung & Company sponsored and divided into two teams to raise funds for the Pittsburgh Walk to End Alzheimer's on October 14th. The team that raised the least amount of money had to take a pie right to the face! The lucky contender was our very own, Joe Zovko.

• Sandwich Day - On November 3rd, the firm celebrated National Sandwich Day! What better way to celebrate than with a DiBellas’ sandwich?
  

Supporting Our Community

Miracle League of Moon Township Halloween Party

One thing we love (as much as taxes) are fall festivities! On October 28th, Louis Plung team members came together to pass out treats at the Miracle League of Moon Township Halloween Party. 

Crohn’s & Colitis Gala

On October 28th, the Louis Plung team attended and sponsored a table at the River’s Casino for the annual Steel Gala to support the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation!
